Helen is an artist living in the Hampshire/Sussex area of the UK. Being mostly self taught she developed her painting techniques assisted by workshops, tutorials, books, and most importantly, a lot of practice and observation. Helen quickly discovered a love for painting wildlife and finds immense pleasure in conveying life in the subjects she paints. Human figurative work is also proving to be immensely satisfying.
Helen works in acrylic paint, enjoying the layering possibilities that this fast drying medium allows, she also paints in oils, and draws using graphite, charcoal, experimenting with other mediums.
Helen appreciates and draws inspiration from artists both modern and past who exploit the relationship between light and dark, and those who connect with and express exceptional qualities of spirit of subject in their work. Helen draws personal inspiration from nature and a desire to display the unique characters and beauty in her work.
In the short time that Helen has been working as an artist she has taken part in local exhibitions in Petersfield and Chichester, is a member of the Petersfield Arts and Crafts Society in whose 2018 and 2019 exhibitions she was granted the Visitor’s Choice Award. Inspired to push her limits further Helen is now studying for a BA in painting with the Open College of Arts.
Helen is moved and grateful by all the positive response to her work and is eager and delighted to continue her art adventure.
